Yuuri Katsuki returns to Kyushu, Japan, where he was born and raised after a humiliating loss at the Grand Prix figure skating finals the previous year. He makes himself comfortable in his parents' home and mulls the possibility of putting his skates away for good. But absolutely out of the blue, his idol in sports, Victor Nikiforov, who has won the world championship in figure skating five years in a row, and another competitor, Yuri Plisetsky, who overtakes more seasoned skaters at a young age, appear at his door. Yuuri is inspired by this fatal encounter to once again accept the challenge of competing in the Grand Prix final.
