Yu-Gi-Oh! Den City, the setting of Vrains, is a city where network systems are created. The city is also home to the business behemoth SOL Technology Co., which uses cutting-edge technology to create virtual spaces called "Link Vrains." But out of nowhere, "The Hanoi Knights," a mystery hacking collective, materialize in this area and declare war on the network's "World of AI: Cyverse."
One duelist accepts the challenge, nonetheless, and goes up against the hacking gang. Playmaker is his name. He also succeeds in eliminating the organization, but after that he vanishes without a trace. He is actually Yuusaku Fujiki, a high school student, who is playing Link Vrains to learn more about what happened to him in the past.
