Adol Christine, our hero, journeys to the far-off country of Estellia, a place populated by monsters, driven by an unknown yearning. There, he discovers that a legend has already predicted his arrival and that he will put a stop to the country's sickness. Which, naturally, he succeeds in doing! He embarks on a journey with his fellow soldiers in pursuit of the six books of Ys, which hold the solution to every issue plaguing the nation and the answers to the riddle. They battle their way through both tiny and large groups of creatures along the route. Will they find all six books and be successful?
