Utawarerumono is a story that begins in the countryside, where a man with no memories or clues to his past awakens. He is found by a kind girl named Eruruu who nurses him back to health and takes him home. His name is Hakuoro and he gradually becomes familiar with his new home and the people around him.
Hakuoro soon discovers that he has been chosen as the leader of a small village, which puts him in charge of protecting it from danger. With Eruruu's help, Hakuoro sets out on an epic journey to discover his true identity and uncover the secrets behind the mysterious powers he possesses. Along the way, he meets many allies who join him in his quest, including an enigmatic masked figure known only as Kuon. Together they must face powerful forces from within their own kingdom as well as from outside forces that threaten to destroy everything they hold dear.
