Treasure Planet is a 2002 animated science fiction film produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation, and released by Walt Disney Pictures on November 27, 2002. It is the 43rd Disney animated feature film. The film is a science fiction adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's adventure novel Treasure Island and was the first film to be released simultaneously in regular and IMAX theaters.
The story follows Jim Hawkins, an adolescent who dreams of leaving his small home world to explore new planets. After receiving a mysterious message from space, he embarks on an intergalactic journey aboard a spaceship called the RLS Legacy with a crew of alien pirates led by John Silver. Together they search for the legendary Treasure Planet, which is said to contain vast wealth beyond imagining. Along the way, Jim discovers that there is more to life than just treasure as he learns about friendship and courage in the face of danger.
