Normal humans and individuals with supernatural talents, known as NEXT, coexist door to door in the metropolis of Constellation City. They battle criminals to earn hero points, which help them move up the Hero TV leaderboard and eventually claim the coveted title of King of Heroes, and to boost their own notoriety as well as the reputation of the businesses they work for.
Together, Kotetsu T. Kaburagi and Barnaby Brooks Jr. continue to promote their business, Apollon Media, and work toward this specific objective. But in the interim, other cities have adopted the Hero Points system, and new heroes are consistently emerging to prove themselves. Particularly, one of these newcomers gives the two pros more issues than they anticipated. Will they be able to maintain their position atop the rankings?
