A group of heretics known as the "Twelve Adepts" are vying for control of a famous icon, but they are up against Athos, a covert organization of the Orthodox Russian Church that wishes to keep the image's existence hidden from the general public. People with supernatural abilities known as "Qwaser," who can master an element of the periodic table, battle on opposite sides. Since the adepts believe the St. Mikhailov Academy to be their intended target, this is where their battle takes place. The school is anything but defenseless, though, and soon fierce clashes start.
