The Guzen no Tomogara are strong beings from a parallel dimension that fight to survive in our world by robbing individuals of what is known as "life force." In addition to dying during the process, people are also converted into this energy and consumed. One day, a Rinnen, a Tomogara servant, attacks Yuuji Sakai, a regular student. However, Yuuji is now a so-called torch—and a very unique one at that: a Mistes, which is a torch that carries a potent magical object. She is no longer a human being.
