The land where "Record of Grancrest War" is situated is one where anarchy reigns and a disaster is just around the corner. The so-called "Crests" (Sacred Seals), which have the capacity to tame the turmoil and defend the populace, are on the side of the continent's rulers. Before anyone realizes it, the rulers begin to battle among themselves and suffer from anarchy.
Through an oath, Siluca Meletes, a reclusive wizard who rejects the rulers, and Theo Cornaro, a man who travels the world to train in order to defend his community, have been made master and slave. They work together to liberate the continent from conflict and anarchy.
