Parasyte : The Maxim follows the life of a 17-year-old high school student named Shinichi Izumi, who lives with his mother and father in a quiet neighborhood in Tokyo. One night, strange worm-like creatures with drills as a ‘head’ called Parasytes appear on Earth and try to take over the brains of human hosts by entering through their noses or ears and attaching themselves to their brains. Shinichi manages to prevent one parasyte from taking over his brain, but it takes over his right hand instead. With his right hand being taken over by an alien creature, Shinichi must learn to adapt to his new situation and fight against other parasytes who are trying to take over the world.
