Onmyoji is set in the Heian period of Japanese history, a time when humans and demons coexisted. The story follows Abe no Seimei, a powerful onmyoji who is respected by both humans and demons alike. He is joined by his apprentice, Kukuri, as they go on adventures to protect Japan from evil forces.
