First-year high school student at Hosea Academy Haruhiko Ichijou lives in a world that was imagined by individuals in the near future. However, in this realm, phantoms—ghostly or monster-like creatures—appear. People with unique powers, like Haruhiko does, battle the phantoms. Along with his classmates Reina Izumi, who has the talent Phantom Eater, and Mai Kawakami, who has the ability Spirit of Five Elements, he battles not only the phantoms but also the struggles of daily school life.
