Jabami Yumeko, mysterious, harmless-looking high school girl enters Hyakkaou Private Academy, a high school which treats gambling as everything. Kakegurui portrays the life of a young female gambler who is highly aroused by taking large risks in the riskiest environment possible.. Hyakkaou ranks their students based gambling winnings, pushing those plunged in debts into slavery, while giving utmost benefits to those above the rest.
Jabami Yumeko, along with some friends along the way, would find herself in a scuffle with the student council, which is composed of the most sophisticated and deep-pocketed gamblers in the school. As she goes deeper into their ranks, she finds larger risks with more dangerous bets on the table. Mostly counting on her instinct and observational powers, Yumeko hopes to find more formidable gambling opponents who are much more willing to place higher stakes on a life-altering gamble. Will she rise through the ranks? Or will she fall through slavery?
