Houtarou is a somewhat docile youngster, so his older sister has to exert a lot of effort to get him to join the school's club for classical literature. He and the other three club members stumble upon a weird occurrence involving the uncle of one of the club's girls that occurred 45 years ago while participating in club activities. The incident's hints can be found in "Hyouka," a compilation of tales that was first published in the club many years ago.
