The head of the Anglican religious community presided over the division of the church in Europe due to disputes. Following this, the monarch established a group to defend the English crown and its citizens from the more regular attacks of paranormal and undead creatures. The organization's beginnings date back more than a century, and Abraham Van Hellsing was a part in its formation and eventual naming of the organization.
A lady by the name of Lady Integra Wingates Hellsing plays a significant part. She acquired Arthur Hellsing's noble status after his death, along with all of the authority and privileges that come with leading the Hellsing order of knights. Even in the most perilous circumstances, Integra maintains the proper composure, yet when necessary, she will also reach for a weapon without hesitation. Alucard, a vampire and the organization Hellsing's secret weapon, is supporting mankind for an unspecified cause. He belongs to the group, hence it is his responsibility to exterminate all the zombies. The battle against evil, however, starts when Seras Victoria, a police officer, intervenes and some things are turned upside down.
