Japan in the year 2071: Mysterious monsters known as Aragami have largely destroyed the world. Using God Arcs, which are generated from the Aragami's cells, an organization named Fenrir has been established in order to destroy the creatures. God Eaters are people that specialize in eradicating the Aragami. In the beginning, there was only one kind of God Eater, and its God Arcs might take the form of either a sword or a weapon. But now a new type has been found, whose weapons can change between these two configurations. Since then, the earlier ones have been categorized as old-types and these as new-types.
