Japan in 2015: Tachikawa City, the second-largest city in the Tokyo region, with 180,000 residents. They include the Gatchaman, combatants who use specialized gear powered by NOTE, a manifestation of the spiritual abilities present in all living things. People with hidden abilities were sought out by the Gatchaman to defend Earth against alien criminals. High school student Hajime is one of the Gatchaman, and she and her teammates have been tasked with battling the enigmatic MESS organization.
