Future Diary is a psychological thriller that revolves around the battle royale of 12 people, each armed with a diary that can predict the future. The winner of the battle royale will become the new god of time and space.
The story follows Yukiteru Amano, a shy and introverted high school student who spends most of his time writing a diary on his cell phone, conversing with his two seemingly imaginary friends Deus Ex Machina, the God of Time and Space, and Murmur, his servant. When Deus grants Yukiteru a "Random Diary," which shows highly descriptive entries based on the future, Yukiteru is forced into a bloody battle royale with 11 other holders of similarly powerful future diaries. With the help of his obsessive stalker Yuno Gasai, who possesses a "Yukkii Diary," they must find and kill the other 11 in order to survive.
