Children of the Whales is set in the far future on the Mud Whale, a floating island city that drifts across the surface of an endless sea of sand. The island is divided between the "Marked" who possess supernatural abilities and are discriminated against by their fellow islanders and the "Unmarked." Chakuro is a 14-year-old archivist who lives in the Mud Whale. He spends his days exploring the ruins of the old world with his friends. One day, Chakuro meets a mysterious girl from the outside world and discovers secrets about this world.
Children of the Whales follows Chakuro as he embarks on an adventure to uncover secrets about his home and discover what lies beyond its boundaries. Along with his friends, he faces off against powerful forces that threaten to destroy everything they know and love. As they explore new lands full of wonders and dangers, Chakuro must come to terms with his own identity and find a way to save those around him from certain destruction.
