The central themes of Azumanga Daioh are the school and daily lives of Chiyo Mihama, Ayumu Kasuga, Tomo-Takino, Koyomi Mizuhara, Sakaki, and Kagura as well as their experiences with them.
The six girls are followed throughout the narrative from their first day of high school to their final university exams. The girls' funny interactions with one another, their unique interactions and conversations with professors and classmates, as well as a somewhat odd mascot, are the main emphasis of the story. And because everyone involved has such a wide range of temperaments, humorous, unexpected, and unusual scenarios keep coming up. The girls, despite having different personalities, immediately become friends.
