Atelier Ryza is a Japanese RPG that follows the adventures of Raisalin Stout, a girl who decides to leave her boring town for an exciting trip to Kurken Island. Reaching the island, she meets a young alchemist who introduces her to alchemy. The gameplay is devided into the fighting component and the crafting component. The fighting part features the main heroes who have to defeat various opponents to gather points and experience that will help them later in creating new recipies.
The battle follows a turn-based combat mode, where each player has time to think what should be his next move. Successful attacks result in Action Points that give you the chance to use special skills, upgrade your existing talents and improve the tactics of the party. The crafting part of the game takes place in the alchemy lab where you have to create one-of-a-kind alchemy recipies and stuff that will help you in the combat part, such as: weapons and armor. You will have to explore the field, searching for valuable resources and improve your knowledge about alchemy to generate fancy ideas for new recipes.
